Forced to drink more without knowing
April 23, 2008
The standard wine glass content was said to be 125ml, unfortunately these figures are incorrect to our new profit based (no longer communal based) pubs. The 125ml glass has been replaced by the new 175ml glass, actually to be more exact; the 175ml glass was found to be the standard in three quarters of pubs, with 14% saying they use the 250ml glass as standard. Doctors say that pubs are playing Russian roulette with people who think their drinking the correct amount to be able to drive home when in reality they are over as well as causing more damage to people’s bodies. The effects of the glass size increases are a shock, especially with the new binge drinking campaigns. Pub owners say that they do offer a choice of glass, they offer small or large. Large glasses could be 250ml or 175ml and small could be either 150ml or 175ml depending on which pub you go to so stay aware.
